Description

Forest accounts describe changes in the resources and flows of wood material, as well as their values in the national economy. Besides wood resources, the accounts also cover other benefits with known volumes of monetary values derived from forests, as well as data relating to forest areas.

Data content

Annual data on forests, wood and flows of wood material in the national economy. Data on wood resources and their use. Increment and drain of the growing stock, processing of roundwood in the forest industry and use by other industries and households. Tying up of wood material in end products of the forest industry, intermediate products, fuel and wood waste. Use of other forest products. Data on volumes and values by industry and commodity. The data are public.

Classifications used

The data are available by the Standard Industrial Classification TOL 2002 at the level of whole country.

Data collection methods and data sources

Forest accounts are compiled from statistics produced by the Finnish Forest Research Institute, Statistics Finland, the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, National Board of Customs and the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute.

Updating frequency

Updated annually.

Time of completion or release

December. Essential data are included in Statistics Finland's publication "Environment Statistics".

The data are available from 1980 up to 2003.
