Ms Hilkka Vihavainen, Master of Social Sciences, has been appointed Deputy Director General of Statistics Production at Statistics Finland for the five-year term starting on 1 October 2009.
The Deputy Director General of Statistics Production directs and develops the uniformity and productiveness of statistics production, and is responsible for the relevance and effectiveness of the goals and functions of the production process.
Hilkka Vihavainen has worked in a number of development, co-ordination and management positions at Statistics Finland. These have included the posts of Director, Social Statistics Department and Director, International Consulting. Since 2002, Ms Vihavainen has held the position of Director of International Affairs at Statistics Finland.
