Industrial output grew in October 2023 both month-on-month and year-on-year

Output grew from the previous month most strongly in the industry of mining and quarrying

Adjusted for working days, industrial output (C) declined by 0.7 per cent in October from one year earlier. Compared to the previous month, output remained on the same level.

Among the main industries examined in the figure, industrial output grew most in mining and quarrying, by 20.0 per cent from the month before. Output went up by 1.6 per cent in the electrical and electronics industry, by 1.5 per cent in the chemical industry and by 1.4 per cent in the forest industry compared to September. In other examined main industries output decreased slightly from the month before. The biggest fall, 1.6 per cent, was recorded in the food industry. Output in the metal industry decreased by 0.7 per cent and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 0.5 per cent from the month before.

Output also grew compared to one year ago most in mining and quarrying, by 15.5 per cent. Output grew by 13.3 per cent in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 2.6 per cent in the chemical industry and by 2.5 per cent in the metal industry from October 2022. The food industry generated 0.2 per cent more output than one year previously. Output decreased from one year ago only in two main industries: in the electrical and electronics industry by 11.4 per cent, and in the forest industry by 11.0 per cent.
