Road traffic accidents claimed 8 lives in April 2023

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 169 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in April 2023. In them, 8 persons were killed and 227 persons injured. The number of persons killed was four lower and that of persons injured 13 lower than in April 2022. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to April

A total of 667 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to April period of 2023. In them, 39 persons were killed and 865 persons injured. The number of persons killed was six lower and that of persons injured 56 lower than in the corresponding period of 2022. Of the persons who were killed, 20 travelled by passenger car and seven by van. Pedestrians killed numbered five and cyclists three. In addition, four other road users were killed.
