1) The data were summed from the PRODCOM classification to less detailed levels. Detailed commodity-specific data can be found in the StatFin statistical database.
2) Starting from the statistical reference year 2018, nationally collected data on waste headings are primarily recorded under “other products” while previously they have been recorded under manufactured products C sub-groups classified based on the material. Information about heading revisions:

The share of metal products of the total value of sold output was 43 per cent, or EUR 39.3 billion. The EUR 18.6 billion sales of machinery and equipment covered nearly one-half of this, sales of metals and metal products covered 39 per cent and transport equipment 13 per cent. The share of chemical industry products of the total value of sold output was 21 per cent, that of forest industry products was 19 per cent and of food 10 per cent.

Strongest growth in the value of the sold output was seen in chemical industry and forest industry products, and in machinery and equipment in the metal industry. In all of these product groups, the value of the sold output increased by close on eight per cent from the year before.

Commodities are broken down into more specific subcategories in Appendix table 1. More detailed level commodity-specific data on the value and volume of sold domestic output and data on the volume of total output are published in the StatFin statistical database.

The data in the statistics on industrial output for 2018 were updated in the StatFin statistical service on 5 July 2019. The database table of the statistics contains data on the value and volume of sold domestic output by commodity heading, as well as data on the volume of total domestic output for 2015 to 2018. Annual data for earlier years are found in the archives of the StatFin statistical service. The service has data available from 1998 onwards. The data have been collected annually from enterprises and establishments in the industries of mining and quarrying (industry B) and manufacturing (industry C).
