Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 6.0 per cent in the year

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products rose by 6.0 per cent, export prices by 6.2 per cent and import prices by 6.9 per cent from August 2009 to August 2010. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 5.4 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was 6.3 per cent.

The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was caused by increases in the prices of, for instance, metals, pulp and oil products from the previous year's August. The rising of the prices was curbed by falls in the prices of electronic products.

On the average, producer prices for manufactured goods remained unchanged from July to August. The price of copper, for instance, rose whereas the price of pulp fell.
