Overnight stays in Uusimaa increased by one fifth from the previous year in October 2022

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, the number of nights spent at accommodation establishments was on level with the previous year in October 2022. In total, 1.37 million overnight stays were recorded for resident tourists and 0.31 million for non-resident tourists. The number of overnight stays increased most in Uusimaa, where overnight stays grew by one fifth from October 2021.

  • The number of nights spent by resident tourists was six per cent lower than in the previous year but 11 per cent higher than in October 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The number of nights spent by non-resident tourists was over one half higher than in the previous year, but close on one third lower than in October 2019.
  • The largest groups of visitors were from Sweden, Germany and the United States.
  • The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 51 per cent. Compared to the previous year, the occupancy rate grew by three percentage points.
  • The average price of a hotel room was EUR 111, having been EUR 101 one year earlier. The price of a hotel room was highest in Lapland, EUR 122.
