Besides printed statistical publications, the Library of Statistics also provides access to electronic materials, databases, and portals to publications and statistics.
The statistical publications are arranged on the shelves according to country (list of countries) and topic (shelf classification). The statistics of international organisations and bodies are in a separate collection of their own (INT).
The self-service collection contains statistics published in the last ten years or so. Older statistical publications are kept in a store from where they are fetched upon request. Almost all of the statistical publications can be borrowed.
National statistics
The collection of national statistics contains the Official Statistics of Finland (OSF) series starting from the year 1856, other statistics produced by Statistics Finland and the statistics of other Finnish government authorities. The collection also includes statistics and reviews produced by business and industrial organisations.
International statistics
The Library's collections include official statistics from nearly 200 countries. The collections from the Nordic and other European countries are the most extensive. There is a particularly good selection of statistics from the Baltic states, Russia and Eastern Europe, too. The Library also has a unique collection of statistics from Imperial Russia (Russica collection).
The statistical publications and databases of the Statistical Office of the European Communities, Eurostat, as well as the statistics of major international organisations, such as the UN, OECD, IMF and World Bank, are all available at the Library of Statistics.
The International Statistics Portal includes the main free international statistics and data sources on the web.
At the Library, customers can access the publication portals of the following international organisations:
