Reporting guidelines

The greenhouse gas inventory preparation is guided by the guidelines of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The guidelines cover all emission sectors. The IPCC guidelines offer the reporting countries the possibility of selecting the inventory calculation methods best suited for its resources and level of knowledge.

The annual greenhouse gas inventory reporting is done with tables of common reporting format and a national inventory report according to the guidelines of the UNFCC.

Decisions and guidelines concerning the EU's monitoring mechanism impose their own requirements on the national inventories of the Member States.
