Industrial output decreased by 0.1 per cent year-on-year in March
According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 0.1 per cent lower in March 2007 than twelve months earlier. The growth in industrial output, which continued all of last year, stalled in the beginning of the year.

Output fell in several main industries in March. Energy supply decreased the most, by 5.5 per cent. Manufacture of electrical and electronic products fell by a good 3 per cent in March. In the chemical industry output declined by just short of 2 per cent and in the metal industry by 2.5 per cent. In March, growth industries included other manufacturing, which grew by 3.5 per cent, and wood and paper industry, where output was a good one per cent higher than one year previously.

Industrial output went up by 0.3 per cent in March from February
According to Statistics Finland, seasonally adjusted industrial output was 0.3 per cent higher in March 2007 than in February.

The volume index of industrial output describes the development in the volume of the industrial output of establishments located in Finland. Preliminary data are based on a sample comprised of a good 1,000 of the largest establishments within their respective industries.
Revised data for March will be published at 9 am on 31 May 2007 in connection with the release of industrial output data for April. Because of the method used, seasonally adjusted figures for previous months may change even if the original figures do not become revised. The seasonally adjusted figures will also be adjusted for working days.
