Road traffic accidents claimed 9 lives in June

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 416 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in June. In them, 9 persons were killed and 540 persons injured. The number of persons killed was seven lower and that of persons injured 27 higher than in June 2017.

Of the persons who were killed, five travelled by passenger car, one by moped and three by motorcycle. Among those who died, eight were men and one was a woman.

A total of 1,912 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to June period. In them, 88 persons were killed and 2,428 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 21 lower and that of persons injured 86 lower than in the corresponding period of 2017. Of the persons who were killed, 61 travelled by passenger car, one by van, two by moped, 11 by motorcycle and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered six and cyclists two. In addition, four other road users were killed.
