Road traffic accidents claimed 13 lives in March

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 237 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in March. In them, 13 persons were killed and 320 persons injured. The number of persons killed was five lower and that of persons injured seven lower than in March 2017.

Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by passenger car. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, eight were men and five were women.

A total of 769 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to March period. In them, 40 persons were killed and 1,013 persons injured. The number of persons killed was seven lower and that of persons injured 134 lower than in the corresponding period of 2017. Of the persons who were killed, 30 travelled by passenger car, one by van and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered six. In addition, two other road users were killed.
