Road traffic accidents claimed 26 lives in January

According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 422 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in January. In them, 26 persons were killed and 543 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 10 higher and that of persons injured 55 higher than in January 2011.

Of the persons who were killed, 19 travelled by passenger car, 1 by van and 1 by bus or coach. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 4. In addition, 1 other road user was killed. Among those who died, 18 were men and 8 were women.
