Producer Price Indices in May 2009
Producer prices for manufactured products fell by 8.1 per cent, export prices by 9.8 per cent and import prices by 11.7 per cent from May 2008 to May 2009. The basic price index for domestic supply fell by 8.0 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was -8.9 per cent.
Among the reasons for the fallen producer prices for manufactured products were reductions in the prices of oil products and metals from last year's May. The fall in the prices was curbed by risen prices of electricity and heat.
From April to May producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.4 per cent. The fall in the prices was especially due to reductions in the prices of metals. The fall in the prices was curbed by risen prices of oil products.
