| Description: | The statistics are based on the Care Register for Social Welfare. Patient-specific data on all periods of care completed during the year and client census data on all clients receiving care at the year-end are gathered from residential homes for older people, institutions for people with intellectual disabilities, institutions for substance abusers, and 24-hour housing services for older people and people with disabilities. For housing services other than those targeted at substance abusers, data are only gathered on clients receiving care at the year-end. In its current form, the collection of social care data started in 1995.
