Retail trade sales grew by 3.0 per cent in December
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales increased by 3.0 per cent last December from December 2008. Sales volume grew by 1.3 per cent over the same time period. In wholesale trade sales fell by 0.5 per cent and an in motor vehicle sales by 18.5 per cent. In total trade sales fell by 1.1 per cent in December.
In retail trade, sales in January-December diminished by 1.6 per cent. Over the same time period, motor vehicle sales were 29.6 per cent and wholesale trade sales 17.7 per cent down on the year before. In total trade sales fell by 15.0 per cent in January-December.

Revised accounting practice in motor vehicle trade
Turnover in new car sales has been recorded according to a revised accounting practice since data concerning April. Motor car tax is no longer included in turnover as in the past. An estimation of the share of the motor car tax in last year's April-December has been removed from the annual change shown for this April-December.
