Sales of retail trade fell by 1.2 per cent in June
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales fell by 1.2 per cent in June from June 2008. Wholesale trade sales fell by 19.0 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 29.9 per cent. In total trade sales diminished by 15.7 per cent in June.
In retail trade, sales in January-June diminished by 2.5 per cent. During the same time period, motor vehicle sales were 32.2 per cent and wholesale trade sales 19.4 per cent down on the year before. In total trade sales fell by 17.0 per cent in January-June.

Turnover in new car sales has been recorded according to a revised accounting practice since data concerning April. Motor car tax is no longer included in turnover as in the past. An estimation of the share of the motor car tax in last year's April-June has been removed from the annual change shown for this April-June.
