The statistics describe volume changes in the output and total input of education, health and social work of municipalities and joint municipal boards and changes in total productivity calculated from them. The data are published on the industry level.
The statistics contain data on changes in total productivity of education, health and social work in municipalities and joint municipal boards and on volume changes in output and total input since 2001. The data are published on the industry level. The statistics are compiled from the national accounts data.
The classifications used in national accounts. The background classification is the Classification of Sectors ISC 2000, by which the local government sector is defined. The industries, education, health and social work are defined according to the Standard Industrial Classification TOL 2002. The transactions from which output and total input are defined are classified according to ESA95.
The sources used are industry-specific production account data at current and fixed prices for the local government sector in national accounts. The transaction output at basic prices is used as output. Total input is calculated from the transactions intermediate consumption at purchaser's prices, consumption of fixed capital and compensations of employees. In the volume calculation of the transaction other non-market output, which is included in output at basic prices, use is made of data of the statistics on finances and activities of municipalities and joint municipal boards collected by Statistics Finland, data describing the volume of educational services in statistics on education of the National Board of Education and Statistics Finland, and statistical and research data describing the activity of health and social work produced by the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health (Stakes).
Two times a year.
Data on volume changes in output, total input and total productivity of education, health and social work of municipalities and joint municipal boards are released yearly at the beginning of February about 13 months from the end of the statistical year on Statistics Finland's Internet pages. Preliminary data on volume changes in output and total input and on changes in total productivity are published on education and social work in mid-August and on health in mid-September nearly nine months from the end of the statistical year on Statistics Finland's Internet pages.
The time series for data on volume changes in output and total input and on changes in total productivity of municipalities and joint municipal boards is from 2000 onwards.
