<description>According to Statistics Finlands Labour Force Survey, unemployment turned to decline in 2011. In 2011, the annual average of the unemployment rate was 7.8 per cent, having been 8.4 per cent in 2010. At the same time, employment also improved slightly. These data derive from updated time series tables of the Labour Force Survey.</description>

<description>According to Statistics Finlands Labour Force Survey, the number of unemployed persons in December was 192,000, which was 13,000 lower than one year before. The unemployment rate in December 2011 was 7.4 per cent, having been 7.9 per cent twelve months earlier. There were 14,000 more employed persons than in December of the previous year. The unemployment rate in the fourth quarter (October to December) was 6.9 per cent, which was 0.6 percentage points lower than in the respective quarter of 2010.</description>

<title>The number of accidents at work in Finland 128,000 in 2009</title>

<description>Close on 128,000 accidents at work occurred in Finland in 2009. Nearly 117,000 of them occurred to wage and salary earners and some 10,900 to self-employed persons (including farmers). The majority of all accidents at work, that is, around 108,900 cases, occurred at places of work or while in work traffic, whereas around 18,700 accidents at work occurred while commuting. These numbers also include such minor accidents at work that led to disability lasting less than four days, and on which insurance companies paid compensation only for medical treatment expenses.</description>

<description>According to Statistics Finland's Labour Force Survey, the number of employed persons in 2010 was very close to the level of 2009. The number of employed persons decreased by 10,000 persons and employment rate of persons aged 15 to 64 fell by 0.5 percentage points to 67.8 per cent. There were small differences between the age groups, however. The employment rates of age groups of under 55-year-olds fell, but employment among people aged 55 or over grew. The employment rate of people aged 55 to 64 went up by 0.7 percentage points to 56.2 per cent.</description>
