According to preliminary data, industrial output grew by just short of one per cent in 2011. Industrial output was on level with 2005 last year.</description>

<description>According to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 16.6 per cent lower in December 2011 than twelve months earlier. December 2010 was very strong particularly as concerns orders in the metal industry and it partly explains the decrease in new orders in manufacturing in December. In 2011, new orders increased by 9.7 per cent from 2010.</description>
