The statistics on enterprises’ research and development describe the resources used on research as well as product and process development. The statistics contain data on e.g. R&D expenditure, their funding, research personnel and research man years. The statistics are based on data supplied by enterprises. The compilation of the statistics follows OECD and EU recommendations.
From selected industries: 1) enterprises that reported R&D activities in the previous inquiry; 2) enterprises that have received product development funding from TEKES; 3) all enterprises with more than 100 employees and a sample of enterprises with 10-99 employees.
Enterprises’ obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004). By law, the data on individual enterprises collected for statistical purposes must be kept confidential. Statistics Finland uses the data for compiling statistics and for research.
