Income and expenditure of foreign sea transport

Description

The inquiry on income and expenditure of foreign sea transport collects quarterly data on gross freight income and traffic charges paid abroad. Gross income covers all income received from foreign sea transport, including that paid by domestic parties. Expenditure paid to Finland is not asked, however. The data are collected vessel-specifically. For sea transport the income data of vessels are also divided by country of origin and destination.

The data are asked immediately after the end of the quarter. The conventional paper form and the Excel form are in use. The obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004).

Target group

Data suppliers are all shipping companies with foreign sea transport, owners of vessels and/or other data suppliers.

Data protection

The Statistics Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the provided data as confidential.
