The inquiry on manufacturing commodities collects value and volume data on the production of enterprises and the materials and supplies used for production by commodity heading. The statistical period used is the calendar year. The next data collection will be carried out in February 2008. The data can be returned on a paper questionnaire or with the electronic data collection form.
Industrial output statistics based on data collected with this inquiry are published in Statistics Finland’s PX-WEB/StatFin database system.The inquiry covers all enterprises with at least 10/20 employees and in certain cases smaller enterprises than this engaged in manufacturing activities (in the industries mining and quarrying = industry C, manufacturing = industry D). Commodity statistics are based on the Statistics Act (280/2004) and the PRODCOM Regulation (Council Regulation (EEC) No 3924/91), which defines the survey concerning industrial production in the Community, as well as Regulation No 912/2004 of the European Commission.
Statistics Act (Sections 12 ands 13) obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential. The data are used only for statistical purposes. By law, data collected for statistical purposes must be kept confidential. Statistics Finland uses the data for compiling statistics and for research. Data on individual enterprises are not released to third parties, other authorities included.
