The Building Cost Index describes the price development of construction inputs, materials, wages and salaries and other inputs relative to the price level of the base year. The price data for the materials in the index are mainly collected from manufacturers of the materials and sellers of building materials. The collection of data is based on a sample to which around 300 manufacturers or retail sellers of building materials have been selected. The data are primarily collected monthly. The obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004) and the Council Regulation (1165/98) concerning short-term statistics.
The price data for the Building Cost Index are collected from manufacturers of building materials, wholesale dealers and specialized shops in the field. The enterprises included and the monitored materials are reviewed annually as needed.
