The inquiry on postal and small freight deliveries concerns the volumes of postal deliveries subject to licence and other small freight deliveries and the turnover accumulated from them in national postal activities and other delivery and courier services. The data are used to produce statistics on postal and small freight deliveries, which are compiled by Statistics Finland and jointly published yearly by Statistics Finland and the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority. The statistics are used for monitoring the competition in the branch and for producing data for EU statistics and other information needs.
The data can be returned on the paper form or sent as an email attachment.The inquiry includes all enterprises in industry 6411 (TOL 2002), national post activities, and the biggest enterprises in 6412, other delivery and courier services, covering around 90 per cent of the turnover of the industry. In addition, the examination includes a specified group of enterprises engaged in small freight deliveries outside the industries mentioned above. The inquiry is made yearly.
The data supply obligation is based on the Finnish Statistics Act (280/2004), which Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential and to use the data only for statistical purposes.
