Data on comprehensive schools are collected with school-specific Comprehensive education statistics questionnaire. The questionnaire collects data on completers of comprehensive school in the previous academic year, numbers of comprehensive school pupils in autumn term according to the situation on 30 September (containing data required for determining size of state subsidy), special education provided by comprehensive schools, subject choices of comprehensive school pupils and information society structures.
The data providers are municipalities and comprehensive schools.
In respect of comprehensive schools maintained by municipalities the data collection consists of two stages. The schools save their own data and the municipality verifies their correctness.Schools maintained by the state, private bodies or municipal associations save their own data.The data are collected electronically via the Internet with a web questionnaire. The data transmission application remains open from 20 September to 10 October. The application can only be accessed by data suppliers who have received a user ID from Statistics Finland.The obligation to provide data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004). The Statistics Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the provided data as confidential.
