Statistics Finland collects from enterprises data about wages and salaries twice a year. These data are collected for the second and fourth quarter and the labour cost data for the whole year are collected in connection with the fourth quarter. Enterprises that have workers included in the collective agreement in the field of forestry and tree nursery work supply the data to Statistics Finland twice a year. Data providers are requested to reply within three weeks from the end of the statistical reference period. The statistics describe the earnings, hours worked and other data related to the employment relationship of forest workers. The data supply obligation is based on the Statistics Act (280/ 2004), which obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential.
The statistics on forest workers' wages and salaries cover both employees of the state and those of organised employers in the field.
Data collected for statistical purposes must be kept confidential by law. Statistics Finland may release data only for scientific research and statistical surveys in a form from which individual level data cannot be identified. Unit level data on enterprises may only be handled at Statistics Finland by persons involved in the production of statistics. The data are protected against improper use in accordance with the data protection regulations of Statistics Finland.
