In the monthly inquiry for accommodation statistics data are collected on the available capacity of accommodation establishments, on the use of that capacity and on the users of accommodation services. The monthly inquiry is based on the accommodation establishment register maintained by Statistics Finland's Transport and Tourism unit, which is updated by the yearly capacity inquiry for accommodation establishments.
The data are collected monthly from the establishments that have at least ten rooms, cottages or camper spaces. The monthly inquiry covers, depending on the season, 1,000 to 1,400 establishments with accommodation activities.
Responding is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004), which obliges Statistics Finland to treat the provided data as confidential.
