In part I of the inquiry on statistics on finances of municipalities and joint municipal boards data are collected from municipalities and joint municipal boards about their annual financial statements: income and expenses according to the profit and loss account, financial items according to the funds statement, and assets and liabilities according to balance sheets on 31 December.
The data are collected from all of Finland's municipalities and joint municipal boards annually by April 10th following the statistical year. The data are primarily collected with a web collection form thorough the data collection service of Itella Corporation. The data can also be submitted with conventional paper forms in case it is not possible to use the web form. The data from the municipalities and joint municipal boards of the Åland Islands are collected and processed by Ålands statistik- och utredningsbyrå.The data for part I of the inquiry on statistics on finances of municipalities and joint municipal boards are collected from all of Finland's municipalities and joint municipal boards.
The collection of data is based on the Statistics Act (280/2004). By virtue of Section 14 of the Statistics Act, notwithstanding the provisions on secrecy, local government authorities are obliged to provide Statistics Finland with data on their finances, products, locations of activities, as well as with data on the staff and other resources required in their activities.
Unit-level data can be processed at Statistics Finland only by those employees participating in the compilation of the statistics in question. The data are protected against inappropriate use in accordance with the data protection regulations of Statistics Finland.Last updated 13.2.2012
