Statistics Finland is granted rights to the Green Office logo by WWF
The global conservation organisations WWF has granted Statistics Finland rights to the Green Office logo.
The WWF's Green Office is an Environmental Management System for offices to encourage their personnel to reduce the burdening of the environment and at the same time achieve savings in material and energy costs. WWF grants rights to the Green Office logo to an office that fulfils the required criteria in using the Environmental Management System. The criteria include the planning of a practical environmental programme, informing and educating of the personnel and reporting about environmental matters.
The emphasis in Statistics Finland's environmental programme is on the reduction of energy and paper consumption. For example, the target in statistics production is expansion of electronic data collecting and publishing. The programme is also designed to guide the personnel in choosing practices that save the environment in printing, recycling and sorting, and other everyday activities.
Rights to the Green Office logo have at the moment been granted to good 70 offices in Finland. WWF assesses annually the achievement of the targets and the fulfilment of the criteria at the offices committed to the Green Office Management System.
