The Women and Men 2005 publication contains statistical information on the position of women and men in different areas of society.
The booklet also includes important years for gender equality in Finland. In 1906 Finnish women were the first in Europe to be granted the right of suffrage in general elections and the first in the world to have the right of eligibility.
The section on population and families comprises statistical information on the age of the population and on families and about social support to families with children in Finland.
In addition to statistics, the section on education gives details on the education system of Finland. The section on working life describes the most female and male-dominated industries, for example.
In addition, the publication contains statistical information on occupations, wages and salaries and income, and participation in decision-making. It also provides information about the differences between women and men in their time use, cultural activities and physical exercises. Other interesting topics are the opinions, attitudes and experiences of women and men regarding gender equality.
