Environmental data - basis for sustainable development

Environment Statistics 2005 contains the latest data describing the effects from human activities on the environment and the actions society has taken to protect it. The publication examines interaction between man and nature from several perspectives. The topics include emissions to air, burdening of waters, waste, land use, energy, transport, environmental taxation and environmental protection expenditure.

The time series, tables and figures presented in the publication are accompanied by plain language texts describing their data contents, making it reader-friendly. The publication also contains copious comparison data from other industrialised countries as well as information on the attitudes of EU citizens on environmental matters. Thanks to its in-depth but easy-to-read information, Environment Statistics 2005 is well suited for both professional and educational purposes.

The statistical tables and figures of the fully bi-lingual publication (Finnish-English) are contained on an accompanying CD-ROM with numerous search functions for easy retrieval of desired information.

Environment Statistics 2005 is based on data collected by research institutes, administrative bodies, Statistics Finland, Eurostat and the OECD.
