Petanque - for the fiveteenth year! It became a part of TIKUs selection of sports, games and culture on 7.3.1997 from initiative by Esko Riste . Near by half of the staff of Statistics Finland (over 800) are members of TIKU. As a game petanque is certainly one of the easiest games to start. Within five minutes anyone can begin. To become a real good player is another thing. It can take years. In summer time at Katri Vala Park In summer time 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 , 2004, 2005 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 the game has been played from beginning of May (end April) on Thursdays at 16 - 18 at Katri Vala park (about 10 minute walk from statistic Finland building). The Thursday games are meant for all members of TIKU from beginners to master players. Summer season 2011 started at 28.4.20118 and ends at the end of September 29.9. Additional games are played at most four times yearly. TIKU has some petanque balls so own balls are not necessary needed. Details of summer games In winter time in Pasila petanque hall In winter season from beginning of October until end of April part of the players move to play in Pasila petanque hall on Thursdays at 17.00. We have had reserved time during three winters 1997-2000. As most active players were members the others have paid guest charge in winter seasons 2000/2001 and 2001/2002. Staring from autumn 2002 all active players are memberes. All the others have paid guest charge. There has been small support from TIKU. Details of winter games Helsinki Petanque League The Firm League is meant for Petanque teams of workplaces and firms on the capital city Helsinki area. The team of Statistics Finland participated on autumn season 1997 for the first time ever at Helsinki Petanque League or Firm League. This was with no doubt enormous achievement in world history. We have had all possible prizes in 1-division and 2-division gold, silver, bronze and fourth prize and a special prize for the best new team. In winter games we have got gold, silver and bronze from A-cup and twice gold from B-cup (for teams 5.-8. from two 12 team groups). The system cahnged at 2007. 2006 The result in winter 2006 was unsuccesful 7./12. The result in spring 2006 was 12./14 in champion-division. We had a change to stay at trial competition but it was not succesful. Therefor in autumn 2006 we are playing again in 1-division. The result in autumn 2006 was 3./14 in 1-division. Therfor we got a change rise up at trial competition up and it was succesful. Therefor in spring 2007 we should be playing again in champion-division. But the system changed 2007. 2007 The result in winter 2007 was gold in B-cup for teams at 4.-7. in two groups of 10-11 teams. The result in Summer 2007 was not succesful with a new system. 2008 The result in winter 2008 was gold of 16 teams. The result in Summer 2008 was 5. of 31 teams. 2009 The result in winter 2009 was silver in B-cup for teams at 4.-7. in two groups of 9 teams. The result in Summer 2009 was Silver of 28 teams. 2010 The result in winter 2010 was bronze in B-cup for teams at 4.-6. in two groups of 9-10 teams. The result in Summer 2010 was Silver of 26 teams. 2011 The result in winter 2011 was 5./8 in B-cup for teams at 4.-8. in two groups of 8-9 teams. The result in Summer 2011 was Silver of 22 teams. Details of Firm League Petanque Tournaments Our players have participated in some other Petanque tournaments including also Finnish Championship Games. 2011 no good results. In 2010 in veterans shooting one of our players got gold. 2009 no good results. 2008 in veterans tripple games one of our players was forth And before 2008 2007 , 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2000, 1999, 1998 , and 1997 without a big success. At Finnish Championship Douple Games for Petanque Associations 2009 one of our players was seventh, There were 27 teams. At Finnish Championship Douple Games for at least 50 years old 2003 one of our players was seventh, There were 58 teams. In addition we have got several medails in many tournaments.
